Fatal crash in Summerland

One man is dead after a crash in Summerland Friday night.

RCMP say it happened around 5:30pm in the 11100 block of Jones Flat Road.  Witnesses are reporting a head-on collision between a mini van and a motorcycle.

Emergency crews raced to the scene, and tried to save the driver of the motorcycle, but the 43 year old Penticton man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mounties say it looks like the motorcycle swerved into oncoming traffic.  Speed and the fact that the driver of the bike was not wearing a helmet are both considered factors in the case.

Both vehicles have been seized as the police investigation continues.
